This is the Anhinga or Snake Bird. It is called that because when this bird swims to look for food it looks like a snake swimming in the water. It swims with its entire body under water and it head and long neck above the surface unless its diving for food. The picture with its wings open is a common sight and it is drying its feathers. This amazing bird can also fly, its better at swimming but flying works better when there is danger.
