This is one of my favorite birds the Loggerhead Shrike. It looks like a songbird but it’s behavior is more like a hawk. This little bird actually hunts its prey, such as small snakes, by picking them up and impales them on barbed wire or a sharp twig or branch. They are abundant all over Florida and you see evidence that they have been there cear anything sharp.
